Use prefix "file:" in taskbar panel to perform filesearch:

Use index 'My files' for instant filesearch. This index is designed to be as fast as possible for searching files. Just select 'My files' index, enter the filename fragment and start the search:

There is another way to search for documents when you remember the part of filename.
First of all, select 'My computer' index.
After that, enter filename part in the query pattern field, then open pattern settings dialog, and finally select 'Search in filenames' option:

That's all.
Advantages:
1. Language morphology is taken into account when matching filenames and query pattern. It may be very useful for non-English languages.
2. You can use regular expressions. This is possible by switching the pattern setting dialog into advanced mode and checking the option:

Disadvantages:
1. 'My computer' index stores document files only. There are a lot of files which are excluded from this index.
2. This method is substantially slower than using 'My files' index.
